Having won numerous awards and international acclaim from critics, the Australian Chamber Orchestra is an attraction in its own right. Add to that a fantastic programme and two international stars of opera, and the stage is set for a very special musical evening!
The Australian Chamber Orchestra is known for its energetic, youthful style of performance, with all the musicians except the cellists playing standing up.
Over the years, the orchestra has visited over 50 international tournaments, and played in concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Vienna, and more.
At Tivoli they play Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll – the composer’s extremely personal maternity gift to his wife, Cosima, after the birth of their son, Siegfried. The musical menu also includes Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde for orchestra and solo singers, on this occasion no less than tenor Stuart Skelton and mezzo soprano Alice Coote, two major international stars with appearances at venues such as The Met in their repertoire.
